Social Worker for Mod, Woolwich, London - 2957

Dates: 23/02/2012 - 29/06/2012 Hours: Mon - Thurs, 08.00 - 17.00 Duties include: To work under the direction of the SCSO to carry out regular welfare needs assessment of the individual wounded/injured/sick soldier and his/her family, and to ensure that these needs are addressed as effectively as possible by utilising MoD and charitable resources. The Casualty Key Worker will hold a case load. Main Job Objectives: 1. Receive operational and complex casualty referrals from SCSO ensuring that every allocated case receives a thorough in-depth assessment and that a regularly reviewed care plan is implemented. 2. Develop effective working relationships with the Chain of Command, other AWS staff, Service Users, other MOD departments, 3rd Sector and outside agencies, particularly parties participating in the care plan. Develop effective working relationships and understanding of the CKW role with the Chain of Command, Army Welfare Service staff, Service Users and outside agencies. 3. Carry out liaison visits and deliver presentations to the Chain of Command, other Army Welfare Service staff and outside agencies in order to increase understanding of the Army Welfare Service CKW role. 4. Receive professional supervision from the SCSO in line with Army Welfare Service policy. 5. Undertake continuous professional development to ensure knowledge of all matters impacting on Service Users i.e. compensation, benefits, MOD and LA procedures. Maintain records of professional development in support of professional registration requirements. 6. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all casework. Tasks: 1. To hold a caseload and carry out the following tasks under the supervision of the SCSO: a. Carry out a full welfare needs assessment with the soldier and his/her family as soon as appropriate depending on the casualty’s medical state and the family’s needs. b. Liaise with the CO, and appropriate welfare providers - MOD, Local Authority and charitable, to arrange a welfare care plan to address the welfare needs. c. Review the care plan package regularly with the soldier, his/her family, and welfare providers to ensure it remains relevant and sufficient. d. Keep in regular contact, including regular face to face meetings, with the soldier and his/her family to provide on-going casework support and to augment the communication channel provided by the chain of command. e. Ensure that information is shared appropriately with the relevant AWS PS in an effective and timely manner f. Ensure that any transfer of responsibility for the key worker role, necessitated by change of location is carried out effectively with no break in care plan provision. g. Contribute to the reporting of relevant trends of welfare need and barriers to achieving appropriate welfare provision to HQ AWS, through the SCSO, in order to inform and influence MoD policy. 2. Provide statistics and case information as required by the SCSO. 3. Carry out liaison visits and deliver presentations to interested parties in order to increase understanding of the AWS CKW role .4. Undertake AWS core work in the teams as agreed by ADPSO/DPSO.
